Name Explanation: The group name is sometimes spelled "Amazoness Quartet." However, "Amazones Quartetto" fits the Romanization of the katakana script better. Amazonesu most likely refers to the Greek word Amazones, which refers to the mythological Amazons. A Japanese dictionary (JQuickTrans) defines the katakana script for karutetto as a word that was adapted into Japanese from the Italian word Quartetto, but can sometimes be translated as "Quartet."*

The Amazones Quartetto appeared in the Sailor Moon Super S series and the Super S manga. They were part of the Dead Moon Circus and took over after the Amazon Trio failed. The Quartetto did not want to become adults because they believed they would loose their dreams. In the Anime the Quartetto calls Zirconia, "Granny," and in the Manga they call her "The Old Maid."
In the manga, they were originally in a deep sleep awaiting the time when they would become the guardian senshi of Chibi-Usa. Nehellenia woke them up and turned them evil. Later after Nehellenia was defeated, the members of the Amazones Quartetto were turned into the Sailor Quartetto and went back to waiting.
In the Anime, they were playing in the jungle one day when they heard a voice near/from the water. They found a mirror that contained Nehellenia. Nehellenia turned them evil and gave them balls which contained their power; she also told them that the balls contained their dreams. At the end of the series, Nehellenia turned on them and they were forced to destroy their balls, because that was the only way they could free themselves of her control. After they were free, they helped Sailormoon get the Golden Crystal. In the very end of the series, they decided to go off on their own.
