Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, Season 1

Introduction: This was the first season of the show and it introduced most of the main characters and set the plot line. This season was fairly long and the ending was "final," meaning it did not include a preview of the next series.

Main Characters introduced: (family name; given name) Tsukino Usagi (Sailormoon), Mizuno Ami (Sailormercury), Hino Rei (Sailormars), Kino Makoto (Sailorjupiter), Aino Minako (Sailorvenus), Chiba Mamoru (Tuxedo Kamen), Luna, and Artemis

Secondary Characters Introduced: Osaka Naru, Umino Gurio, Haruna Sakurada, Tsukino Ikuko, Tsukino Kenji, Tsukino Shingo, Furuhata Motoki, Reika, Kumada Yuuichirou, Hino Ojii, Ryo Urawa, Queen Serenity, Osaka Naru's Mother, and Kayama Mika

Villains Introduced: The Dark Kingdom; Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite, Kunzite, Queen Beryl, Queen Metaria, and the Youma.

Summary: In this season, the villains belonged to the Dark Kingdom, which was ruled by Queen Metaria. Their mission was to gather enough energy to free Queen Metaria, take over the world, and get revenge for their defeat at the end of the Silver Millennium. Queen Beryl ruled in place of Queen Metaria, but followed Queen Metaria's orders. The first one of the Four Generals to gather energy was Jadeite. He did so by calling forth Youma to help him drain energy from humans. After Jadeite's failure, Nephrite took over. He gathered energy by infecting objects of importance with a Youma and draining the energy from a single human, when that human reached his or her peak energy level. However, Nephrite fell in love with a human, Osaka Naru, and he was killed by Zoisite's Youma. After Nephrite's death, Zoisite took over. Zoisite's job was to go after each of the seven holders of the nijizuishou (Rainbow Crystals). Zoisite was in love with the last General, Kunzite, and jealous of Tuxedo Kamen, who had been turned evil. He was killed by Queen Beryl. The final general, who took over after Zoisite, was Kunzite. He died in battle with Sailormoon. In the final two episodes of this season, the Senshi fought a fierce battle with Queen Beryl and Queen Metaria. They traveled to the location of the Dark Kingdom, and there, one by one, each of the Senshi were killed. Sailormoon almost gave up hope, until the spirits of the other Senshi appeared to her. The Dark Kingdom was then defeated when Sailormoon used the Ginzuishou (Silver Crystal) to destroy Queen Metaria, with the help of the spirits of the Senshi.

Beginning & Ending: In the beginning of this season Usagi-chan learned that she is Sailor Moon. Luna, her guardian cat, was forced to awaken her when the Dark Kingdom attacked. After that, each Senshi learned their true identity. At the end of the season all the Senshi and Tuxedo Kamen were killed. However, they were reborn when Usagi made a dying wish, on the Ginzuishou, that they be allowed to live normal lives.
